The 2.000 square meter facility was used for solar-testing before and is currently in the re-construction phase to meet the all latest testing standards and will be fully operational by Q1 of 2022. The construction of an additional facility with a large-scale bunker as part of an abuse center will start from Q3 2021 and be completed by Q3 2022.
Below sketch shows the layout of the three facilities and the location of the state-of-the-art equipment, benches and chambers.
Together with the leading equipment manufacturers, we have designed a state-of-the-art Battery Testing Center. It features a comprehensive testing portfolio, high flexibility and strong performance data. More details on the detailed test bench specifications are available here.
What kind of vehicle batteries can be tested?
The cells, modules and packs can be tested under different test scenarios with almost all conceivable requirements. The testing facility is designed to meet customer specific- requirements from cell level to large battery pack.
The TÜV Rheinland Battery Testing Center provides the most important international testing standards for batteries on site. These include, among others, the ECE R 100, UN 38.3 and LV124.
ECE R100
The ECE R100 certification is one of the most important European requirements for the approval of electric road vehicles, because the regulation specifies all the tests that must be performed on batteries installed in electric vehicles of category N and M with electric traction.
UN38.3
Before lithium cells/batteries are allowed to be transported at all, they must successfully pass certain tests. These tests simulate transportation conditions such as pressure, temperature, crushing, impact, etc. These tests are described in a manual of the United Nations.
LV124
The LV 124 standard specifies the requirements, test conditions and tests for electrical, electronic and mechatronic components and systems for use in motor vehicles up to 3.5t.
